What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is about being present in the moment, whatever it is you are doing. Being aware of your thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. You gain awareness through meditation, building the practice of mindfulness so that you can apply it to your everyday life. When you teach your mind to be present, you are learning to live more mindfully and not getting caught up in reactive thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness can be helpful when you are faced with challenging circumstances or difficult situations.
We all have the ability to be mindful, we just have to learn how.
The Types of Mindfulness Practice
Mindfulness can be practiced by deliberately concentrating on an activity, or sitting still and concentrating on a sensation, but it can also be just a short pause during your day, or in combination with meditation. You can practice mindfulness when seated, walking, moving, singing, listening, washing up and during sports, or yoga.
The Benefits of Mindfulness Practice:
When can be mindful, we can reduce our stress, increase our focus, enhance performance and become more insightful and aware of ourselves and the world around us. Mindfulness allows us to stop judging ourselves, and others, and become curious about our experiences.
