Meditation

What is meditation?

Meditation is a practice designed to focus on the mind and the body and is used to calm the mind and enhance overall well-being. Some types of meditation involve maintaining focus on a particular sensation, such as your breath or a mantra (a repeated word or phrase). Other forms of meditation include the practice of mindfulness [insert link].

Meditation helps to train our attention, focus and awareness. Its purpose is often to help us to learnt to respond rather than react to our negative thoughts and feelings.

It is not intended to be a tool to empty our mind, this is something which is impossible for most of us, nor do we need an exotic location, or need to sit in silence for hours, it is a practice which allows us some head space, gives us permission to spend time on ourselves, and is a radical act of self care.

I offer a number of guided meditations. Each meditation is different and I often apply a theme, to allow you to sit with a particular concern. As we work together you will be able to uncover things you wish to meditate upon and we can create meditations which work for you.

The themed meditations cover matters including self esteem, kindness and compassion, troubling thoughts, sleep, busyness, overwhelm, work and often include meditations on practices from different cultures.
